🌎 A first for Common Ground Wines. ✨

We're beyond excited to welcome @vinaelprincipal as our first-ever South American portfolio addition *and* our first Chilean producer. 🇨🇱🍷

This is a milestone moment for us, and we couldn't have picked a better estate to mark it:

Founded in 1993 by Jean Paul Valette (former owner of Premier Grand Cru Classé Château Pavie in Saint-Émilion 🇫🇷) El Principal sits at the foot of the Andes in Pirque, Maipo Valley. ⛰️

When Jean Paul passed in 2002, his son Patrick carried the project forward before it found its current home with the Said Handal family.
Through every chapter, the goal never changed: prove Chile could make truly Ultra Premium wine.

💡Here's the thing about "boutique" though. It's not a marketing word, it's math.

90 hectares. Just 250,000 bottles a year, split across only four wines. Every single cluster hand-picked in 10kg boxes, gravity-fed into small tanks matched to their exact block!

Every bottle has a known origin on the estate. 🙌🍇 That's why their flagship "El Principal" (only 10,000 bottles a year) has scored 96–97 points across multiple vintages from Tim Atkin and Descorchados. 🏆

And it's not just what's in the bottle, as El Principal is a destination in its own right. Vineyard tours, a sunset tasting with Andes views, a full Chilean asado paired with library wines. This is a producer you visit, not just pour. 🌄🥩

Chile and our partnership with El Principal is where Common Ground Wines crosses into a whole new hemisphere. Cheers to finding common ground, wherever it grows with passion and authenticity. 🥂

Four generations. One farmhouse. Zero shortcuts.

Founded in 1950 by Giovanni Bongiovanni in Castiglione Falletto (the beating heart of the Langhe) this family has spent 75 years coaxing world-class Nebbiolo out of some of the steepest, most stubborn vineyards in Piedmont.

Today Davide Mozzone runs it, raising his own kids in the same house his grandfather built the dream in.

This is UNESCO World Heritage vineyard country — the same rolling hills that give us Barolo, Barbaresco, white truffles, and hazelnuts so good they built an entire pastry industry around them. 🌰🍇

We're bringing 3 of their wines to Ontario to taste:

🍷 Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2024 — your entry point

🍷 Barolo DOCG 2021 — the flagship

(Quick disambiguation, because Burgundy nerds will ask: Saint-Bris-le-Vineux has more than one Bersan. We're pouring JC Bersan — Jean-Louis & Jean-Christophe's estate — and it deserves to be known on its own name, not just the family one)

The receipts: vines worked by this family since 1453. Organic since 2009, certified 2012, biodynamic ever since. And the wines age in 11th-century cellars built by monks — yes, actually.🕯️

Here's the plot twist: Saint-Bris is the ONLY appellation in all of Burgundy built around Sauvignon Blanc. Not Chardonnay. Not Pinot. In Burgundy. 🤯

In less than a week, Sicily's highest vineyard lands in Ontario 🌋🍷

1978 - Vittorio buys a few scattered plots on the side of Mount Etna and bets everything on vines.

Fifty years later, his family's winery is dug ELEVEN METRES into the volcanic rock, their vineyards sit at 800m facing the Taormina coast, and they're making some of the most electric wine in Sicily⚡️

We're presenting two of the wines on July 22:

🔥 Etna Rosso — grown right on the volcano, wild temperature swings, ancient soil twice as rich in potassium as normal dirt. The result? Wines with real tension and life.

☀️ Nero d'Avola — from the family's other vineyards in sun-soaked Caltanissetta. Same hands, totally different Sicily.

This is a trip you can taste. Come get a passport stamp for your palate. 🧳🍷
